The Ultimate Valentine’s Day Self-Care Guide: A Love Letter to You

By Ann Marie Rugman, Contributing Blogger

Valentine’s Day is almost here, and whether you’re coupled up, single, or deeply committed to  sweatpants and snacks, there’s something for everyone. No matter how you celebrate, it’s the  perfect moment to slow down, tune in, and give yourself a little extra love. Especially as women,  we deserve that care just as much as we give it. And yes, that includes buying yourself flowers  and eating the chocolate first.

One of my favorite Valentine’s Days I’ve ever spent was a simple date with three of my closest  girlfriends. No pressure, no expectations, just laughter, connection, and celebrating one another.  It reminded me that love shows up in so many beautiful ways, and sometimes the most  meaningful kind is the love we give ourselves. Plus, no crowded dinner reservations or forced  prix-fixe menus. A win is a win.

With Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday this year, it’s the perfect opportunity to create a full  day of cozy, feel-good self-care. Here’s my ideal way to spend a Galentine’s-inspired wellness  day.

Start with a slow morning

There’s nothing better than a slow, peaceful morning. No rushing, no alarms, just easing into the day. I love taking my time, heading downstairs, and making a warm glass of water in my tea  kettle with fresh lemon and a pinch of salt for electrolytes. It’s my way of pretending I’m at a  luxury wellness retreat instead of standing in my kitchen in fuzzy socks.

Then I head back upstairs, make my bed, and get ready for the day. It’s amazing how doing  something small and productive first thing can instantly make you feel like you have your life  together.

Move your body in a way that feels good

Next, I slip into my favorite RBX Active pieces, the Everyday Ribbed Ankle Pant and the On  The Go Tee, and head downstairs for a light workout. These are the kind of outfits that make you  feel put together while secretly being just as comfortable as pajamas, which really is the dream.

I’ll hop on my walking pad for a light jog, lift a few weights, and finish with some gentle yoga  stretches. Nothing intense, nothing punishing. Just movement that feels good, boosts my mood,  and lets me check workout off my to-do list before noon. We love efficiency.

Coffee dates and fresh air

After my workout, it’s time for one of my favorite rituals, a trip to my local coffee shop. I grab a  warm lavender-and-honey chai latte, then take it along for a short walk on my local boardwalk.

Fresh air, movement, and a good drink in hand has a magical way of making life feel instantly  better. If there’s sunshine involved, even better. If not, I’ll still romanticize it.

A little retail therapy and fresh flowers

Next stop, my favorite local boutique, followed by a flower shop. There’s something so joyful  about treating yourself to a small purchase and bringing home a gorgeous bouquet of fresh  flowers. I love cutting the stems, arranging them in a vase, and placing them somewhere I’ll see  them all weekend. It’s a simple reminder that you don’t need a reason, or a Valentine, to buy  yourself flowers.

Book that massage

If there’s ever a day to schedule a massage, it’s Valentine’s Day. This is your official permission  slip to book the massage, the facial, the nail appointment, or all three. You deserve to relax,  unwind, and fully melt into that massage table, temporarily forget all your responsibilities, and  pretend your only job is deep breathing and existing.

Wind down with cozy, nourishing rituals

To end the day, I love coming home to cook a healthy, delicious dinner, something nourishing  but comforting, like a warm veggie bowl, roasted sweet potatoes, or a cozy homemade soup.

After that, it’s face mask time, cozy pajamas, and a glass of my favorite drink while I settle in to  watch a favorite show or movie. Sometimes I’ll journal, reflect on the week, set intentions, or  simply scroll until I find a recipe I swear I’ll make next week. Balance.

Celebrate yourself

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to look one certain way. Whether you’re single, taken, or  somewhere in between, this day is a beautiful reminder to celebrate yourself, your body, your  journey, and your growth.

So this year, let’s make it a Galentine’s-style wellness day filled with movement, connection,  rest, and a whole lot of self-love. Because the most important relationship you’ll ever have is the  one you have with yourself. And honestly, she deserves flowers, comfy outfits, and a massage. XO
